Trista Johnston came to Horse Wisdom Farm through a series of synchronicities, the main one, horses. Trista fell in love with the gentle giants at Horse Wisdom Farm. She grew up outside of Fernie and relocated to Vancouver Island in 2022. Her vision is to hold compassionate space for you alongside the horses as you journey through your inner landscape, meeting your authenticity.

Trista started working on a ranch with horses outside of Calgary, alongside a psychologist and horsewoman. She came to learn the wisdom and transformative mirroring which horses offer for remembering; self-development calls it growth, yet we are really embarking to remember our true nature. Horses invite us to be congruent, to be honest with ourselves and help to reveal the truth of who we are. Horses are masters at being.

Trista is a registered Social Worker with the province of BC. She spent a decade working with children, families and adults for the government of Alberta, and the last six years in a crisis counselling position. She has taught yoga since 2012 and travelled to India in 2016 to obtain her yoga therapy certificate from Ghosh's Yoga College. Trista piloted a private wellness business and offered wellness consulting.

Trista is a certified FEEL® (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning) practitioner, just as the founder Emily May of Horse Wisdom Farm and Trista is thrilled to be offering sessions at the farm.

Trista has training in trauma informed therapy, compassionate inquiry, non-violent communication, ancestor medicine: rituals for personal and family healing, somatic integration, conflict management and leadership facilitation.

She also offers intuitive healing sessions and hosts traditional Cha Dao tea ceremonies for individuals, groups and for important events in ones life.

Trista believes Equine Assisted Therapy is beneficial to anyone who shows up with a desire to experience calm, grounded clarity. Horses are masters at teaching presence, acceptance, communication and holding unconditional space in a therapeutic dynamic. Trista doesn't see’s working with horses as an invitation to dissolve the facades we carry.

Trista is excited to welcome you to a twenty acre farm with twenty horses on any given day.

There is options for groups, corporate, and tailored sessions.
